Buying or selling a home in Wallingford
Wallingford is my home base. I've lived in this area my whole life, and I work with buyers and sellers all over town, from first-time buyers in the neighborhoods off North Colony Road to families moving up near the historic center. If you're wondering what your Wallingford home is worth or what the market is doing on your street, I can pull the recent sales and show you.
About the town
What Wallingford is like
Wallingford sits about halfway between New Haven and Hartford, right beside the Quinnipiac River. It was founded in 1667 and grew into a major silverware manufacturing center, which is why the downtown has so much historic character. Today it's a town of roughly 44,000 people with a working downtown, good schools, and easy access to I-91 and the Hartford Line train.
Market note
Wallingford has been one of the strongest markets in Connecticut. Public data from mid-2026 shows the typical home value up roughly 6 to 7 percent year over year, with homes going under contract in about a week. That means pricing matters: I'll show you the actual comps for your street before we talk about a number.
Population
About 44,400 residents (2020 U.S. Census)
Commute
About 20 minutes to New Haven and 30 minutes to Hartford by car. The Wallingford station on the CTrail Hartford Line gets you to New Haven in about 12 to 14 minutes and Hartford in about 27.
Schools
Wallingford Public Schools run preschool through grade 12 with two high schools, two middle schools, and four elementary schools. Choate Rosemary Hall, one of the country's best-known private boarding schools, is also in town.
